Statistically, looked after children and those who were previously looked after, are regarded as being vulnerable from a safeguarding perspective.
Many looked after children will have previously experienced violence, abuse or neglect. Adverse childhood experiences can have a huge impact on their mental health and wellbeing and make them more vulnerable to perpetrators and abusive behaviours. These children often experience barriers in maximising their full potential.
This course guides and supports staff undertaking this role in accordance with HM Government statutory guidance.
